How does the instant issue debit card work?

You can use your instant issue debit card at any automated teller machine using your personal identification number (PIN). At retailers that accept MasterCard, you can use your debit card like a check; the amount of your purchase will deduct from your checking account. The EMV chip technology provides increased protection against fraud.

Do I use the debit card the same way I would use a credit card?

Yes. The instant issue debit card will be accepted by merchants in the same manner as a MasterCard card. The difference is that your purchase total will be deducted from your checking account and that there are no interest charges.

Will purchases I make with my instant issue debit card appear on my checking statement?

Yes. The amount, date and location of the purchase you made will appear on your monthly statement along with the checks you write and your ATM transactions to help you keep track of all your spending.

Can I still use my checks when I shop?

Yes. Whether you use your debit card or checks is entirely up to you.

Are there spending limits?

Labette Bank sets limits for your protection. ATM withdrawals are limited to $200 daily and point-of-sale purchases are limited to $500 per day. However, you can increase these limits by calling or visiting your local Labette Bank branch.

Is it possible to overdraw my checking account when I use my debit card?

Yes. If you do not have sufficient funds available, you can expect to pay a fee or service charge for overdrawing your account. It’s the same as with overdrawn checks.

When I use my debit card, are funds withdrawn from my checking account instantly?

Although it may take a few days for purchases to reflect on your checking account, you should always assume that it will occur immediately to avoid overdraft fees.

What should I do with my old ATM card when I receive a new one?

For security purposes, cut up your old ATM card and throw it away. Or you can bring your old card to a Labette Bank branch, and we’ll shred it for you.

Do I need to do anything special before I travel with my Instant Issue debit card?

Your protection is our top priority, so if you are planning a trip, please call/text us at 800-711-1823 to let us know where you are going and how long you will be traveling. This helps us prevent your debit card from being blocked for usual or suspicious activity. During this call, you can also update any information and ask about any ATM fees you might incur, especially if you are traveling abroad.

What should I do if my debit card is lost or stolen?

Call/text 800-711-1823 to reach a customer service representative. If it is outside banking hours, please call 800-383-8000. You will be able to cancel the existing card number and order a new one. If your card is lost, you can use our mobile app to temporarily block your debit card until you find it.

What should I do if I suspect fraud on my debit card account?

Call 866-508-2693.
